Perry Hall won its last regular season game against Franklin with a final score of 5-2 at home on Monday, May 9.
The Gators were successful due to one main reason.
“We made the plays defensively. When we do that we win games. We’ve had four shutouts this year. We gave up two runs today and when we do that we normally win. We don’t score a whole lot of runs in games. We had five today, but you know we got to keep teams under five for us to win most likely,” said Joe Carlineo, head coach Perry Hall’s varsity boys baseball team.
The regular season finale for Perry Hall was an important contest.
“We feel great. This is our tune up for the playoffs. It was a senior game. We have six seniors on the team and one got hurt after our second game [senior Adam Kahler] so the other five were able to play the full game and get us to win, going into the most important part of the season, the playoffs,” said Carlineo.
Carlineo also shared his thoughts on his seniors, but looks forward to the future.
“Yeah I’d just like to say I’m gonna miss everyone of the seniors and I’m excited about the future of the program,” said Carlineo.
Catonsville will determine the start to the postseason for Perry Hall.
“It’s a long haul, but we got the pitching and the defense to do it so when you have that in baseball good things can happen,” said Carlineo.
